28. Our own field findings

The basis of this expert analysis is not other people's documents alone. Since 2019 we have been carrying out our own investigations in the field, in part ourselves and in part through commissioned third parties, and they are documented.

Investigations were carried out on plant in operation and in maintenance: engines and combined heat and power plants, power stations, incineration plants inside and outside, marine engines, vehicles and construction machines. In the course of this we have tested almost every insulation material available on the market on a variety of installations.

Wipe samples, material samples and laboratory analyses were used, evaluated in a mobile laboratory and by external laboratories. In the early period we too used the rapid test. We no longer use it, for the reasons set out in section 19.

This expert analysis does not claim that every component is affected, and it does not seek to overstate anything. After seven years of field work, however, we cannot establish freedom from contamination or give an all-clear for any of the fields of application named.
