Cr6.info, structure and use

Cr6.info

This page describes how Cr6.info is put together and how to use it.

What is here

An analysis of the formation of hexavalent chromium compounds on insulated chromium-alloyed hot components and in combustion residues. It exists in seven editions, each in three levels, with a list of sources, a PDF and a questions part.

Start page

At the top stand the title, the subtitle and the introduction, below them the seven editions with their three levels. The language bar under the slogan switches this block and at the same time sets the edition in the reader below. Only this block is translated, the document text follows the selected edition.

The seven editions

Deutsch, Schweiz, English, USA, Français, Nederlands, Polski. In the common part they agree in version, structure and depth of evidence. The difference lies in the section on the national rules.

The three levels

The expert analysis is the complete text with its sources, in the German edition 38 sections and 241 sources. Summary and overview condense the same subject. Each level carries its own version number, shown in the document head and on the level page.

Two ways through the same text

The reader sits below the start page. It loads every document without a page change and offers the selection rows, search, the list of sections, the PDF and sharing.

Besides this there are fixed pages, one per edition, one per level and one per section of the expert analysis. They carry the same text with the same markup. These pages are read by search engines and language models, and only they provide a preview when a link is shared.

The selection rows

Edition selects the language version, Level selects expert analysis, summary or overview.

Cr(VI) in situ takes three sections out of the expert analysis and shows them on their own: Insulation, Applications, Ashes. The first two are tables with an evidence column, the third is the section on combustion residues.

Insulation

Do you want to know whether the insulation system you use, or the one installed on your plant, contains basic oxides? Then look under Insulation to see whether the material is listed there. The evidence column tells you for every row where the figure comes from, from a manufacturer or a standard, from a warning notice or from our own field observation. If you lack data sheets or precise information, we will gladly carry out a free check for you, an email to markus.sommer@chromatexperten.de is enough.

Applications

Do you want to know whether your plant or your component is one of the places where both sides of the reaction meet? Under Applications you find the applications that use these insulation materials, next to them the chromium-alloyed material installed and the temperature it is rated for. The table does not say how far the reaction proceeds in a given case, it says where the conditions for it are present. If you cannot find your case, or if material and temperature are unclear, write to us and we will look at it free of charge.

Ashes

Under Ashes stands the section on combustion residues and boiler deposits, that is grate ash, furnace residues, fly and boiler ashes and deposits on chromium-alloyed hot components. Insulation need not be involved here, calcium and alkalis come from the burned material itself.

Cr(VI) rules

This row shows the national sections: USA, EU, D, F, NL, CH, UK, and in the Polish edition USA, EU, D, NL, UK, PL. The sections appear in the language of the selected edition, even where the matching PDF carries only its own national section.

On the fixed pages the two lower rows lead into the reader, because these extracts exist only there.

Search

In the reader the field searches the selected document, counts the matches, marks them in the text and shows in the list of sections how many matches fall on each section. On a fixed page the same field searches only that one page.

Sources

Numbers in square brackets lead to the list of sources at the end of the document. Every section page also carries, below the text, the sources cited in that section. Freely available evidence is linked. Blacked out passages concern non-public documents held by the author.

PDF

Every edition and level has its PDF, 21 files in all. The button in the document head downloads it, file name and size stand next to it. The extracts of the two lower rows have no PDF of their own.

Sharing

The button next to the PDF gives the address of the fixed page that belongs to the selected edition and level. A link shared this way therefore shows the preview in the right language. Addresses with a hash, such as /#nl-rNL, do open the right place in the reader, but they never reach the server and always produce the German preview when sent.

Questions and answers

Sixty-one questions with answers, in five languages, reached through the Questions row below the search field and from the footer. Every answer points to the section that documents the point.

The round button at the bottom right appears after a stretch of scrolling and returns to the top of the page.

Almost nothing is stored

On the first visit a notice bar appears at the bottom. If you agree, the browser remembers the selected edition and level. If you decline, nothing is stored. None of it leaves the device.

Legal notice and privacy policy exist in five languages, the Polish version is the authoritative one.

Instead of en there can be de, ch, us, fr, nl or pl, and the path segments then carry that language, for example /pl/analiza.html.
