Fundamentals and insulation technology

Calcium chromate and sodium chromate are chromium(VI) compounds that can be deliberately formed under alkaline-oxidising thermal conditions. The historical patent specification and the experimental interface findings establish a foreseeable substance conversion process that must be taken into account in material selection and risk assessment.

The systemic error lies where thermal insulation performance, fibre behaviour and as-delivered condition are treated as a sufficient safety assessment, while the in-situ formation of hazardous substances during operation is insufficiently taken into account. Alkaline oxide fractions constitute a hazard indication; protection and prevention must not be based solely on air values, visible deposits or positive rapid tests.

Gas-phase transport and calcium-/sodium-dependent chromate formation complement each other. Toshiba investigates prevention; the ECFIA commission shows that the question was known within the European manufacturers' association. [11, 26, 35-38]

Vehicles

Vehicle contamination furthermore concerns handling, maintenance, permanent remedy and owner costs. Warranty claims under sales law and manufacturers' safety-law measures offer separate avenues of examination in the EU. [22, 23, 46, 47]

Combustion residues

Combustion residues, including grate ash, the shutdown phase and cremation ash, extend the assessment to operation, overhaul and environmental pathways. The implementation of the documented knowledge in analytics, protection and information must be examined. [30-34, 43-45]
